MacOS Mojave has a host of new features, some of them designed to improve security and privacy, others designed to make it more useful, and yet more that are there purely to make it more fun. Dark mode falls into another category — it’s supposed to make macOS more comfortable for some users.

What is Dark Mode in Mojave?
Sep 10, 2018 Drawing from the design of the beautiful built-in apps inside of macOS Mojave, this theme has been designed to immaculately complement Dark Mode. Colors, text, and tab treatments were built to as closely as possible match the native macOS Mojave Dark Mode look and behavior. May 15, 2019 Chrome’s dark mode is tied to the system color scheme in both Windows 10 and macOS Mojave. That means you need to switch the entire operating system to light mode just to disable Chrome’s dark.
It’s a user interface adjustment that makes menu bars, menus, backgrounds, and other parts of the OS that would normally be light grey or white black. It inverts the background and text so that the latter is white. Unlike the dark mode introduced in macOS Yosemite, the Mojave version doesn’t just work with the menu bar and Dock in the Finder. It works with apps, too. Naturally, Apple’s own apps like Photos and iTunes support Dark Mode, and photos in the Photos app really stand out when you use it. Because it works with apps, it needs third-party developers to explicitly add support for it in order that they work in Dark Mode.

Why don’t all apps work with Dark Mode?
Many apps already support Dark Mode and you’ll notice them change as soon as you switch it on. Others need to be updated by their developer in order to support it, and that will happen over the next few months. A third category, those whose user interface doesn’t lend itself to being viewed in Dark Mode may never support it.
Sadly, there’s currently no macOS Mojave shortcut to make it quicker to turn it on or off nor anyway to invoke macOS mojave dark mode automatically.

2. Choose Desktop & Screensaver
3. Choose one of the two options from the Dynamic Desktop section

Monitor your Mac’s health
The new features in macOS Mojave put additional strain on resources like your Mac’s RAM and CPU. You can monitor the health of these resources in CleanMyMac’s menu bar item, along with other indicators like battery life, how much is in the Trash, and whether applications are consuming more than their fair of resources. If it’s not already enabled, you can enable it in CleanMyMac by going to Preferences and clicking on the Menu tab.
Dark Mode is a great addition to macOS and is very easy to switch on and off, although it could do with a keyboard shortcut to toggle it.

Google is working on adding support to Chrome for dark mode in macOS Mojave. Although the new feature is available now as an early beta, Google has a number of problems to solve to make the new feature work …
In a succinct bug report, a developer summarises the situation.
macOS 10.14 introduced “dark mode”, which swaps the system color palette to a dark scheme. Chrome doesn’t currently support this. We need to:
1) Figure out how dark mode should look in the Refresh look2) Implement it
One particular challenge for Chrome is that it currently uses its own app-specific dark mode to signal incognito mode.
I think the main concern here is how the dark mode for Mojave will be distinguishable from Incognito mode. Moreover, Chrome pages (such as New Tab Page, Settings, History, etc.) and maybe the submenus of Bookmark Bar and 3-dot menu should also support dark mode to fully support.
Additionally, Google can’t use some of the workarounds it has with incognito mode.
Before the new dark mode, there was a problem with how browser actions looked in darker UI (mainly in Incognito mode, and when dark themes are used). And now, with the adding of the new dark mode, this problem will become more annoying for a lot more users.

For Incognito mode (which is currently dark), developers used to call `chrome.browserAction.setIcon()` for every tab and use a lighter browser action icon when the tab is in an incognito window. But this workaround can’t be used to deal with dark themes, nor with the new dark mode, because there is no clue if the current theme is light or dark, and whether Mojave’s dark mode is turned on or off.
